Profile of some of 2006 Graduates

Spring-Summer 2006

Kebrewosen Densamo (Kiki)

My name is KebKrewosen Densamo  (Kaki)I am from Ethiopia. I came to America 3 years ago. .I recently graduated from Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School.  My educational experience at CRLS has been amazing. During my school years in this high school I have learned a lot. This school has prepared me for the life in the real world and taught me how to be successful.

I am going to University of Massachusetts in Amherst to study pre-med. I want to become a pediatrician and it is because I always liked taking care of kids and I always had a great time baby-sitting my sisters and cousins. My goal as I head to U mass Amherst is to become a professional and to become a doctor

In conclusion, I would like to say my years at CRLS have been very positive and I am going to miss my classmates and my teachers.. Last but not least I would like to thank my parents, my teacher, my friends for their love, help and support. I would like to also thank Sandra the Coordinator of City Links, who has been as close as a mother to me by sharing my bad times and good times during the past years and for giving me this chance to express my self.

My name is Saba Molla .I came to the United States a ago. I recently graduated from Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School. When I first came to this country, I was just entering  my senior year in high school.

Adapting to the school curriculum and culture was very hard for me, because I had very little time to get used to things. Now I am used to things that were scaring me at first.  However, I was very nervous in the beginning me at first  because there were so many things I needed to get done besides just the schoolwork. For example, seniors need to take SAT's and TOEFL, fill out college applications, apply for scholarships, and organize letters of recommendation.

High school was an absolutely wonderful place. It was a place where you could develop a vision of your future self, as you decided for yourself what courses you wanted to take as you imagined what your future career plans might be. It was like a life experiment to see if you could be responsible for yourself and independent in the future. High school also gave me the chance to learn to manage time effectively, and I know that will be very helpful for me when  I go to college.

Now I feel comfortable about graduating from high school. I feel like I gained enough knowledge to go to the next level. Some of my teachers have agreed with me on that, as they told me I am ready for college.  In the fall I will be attending the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. My dream is to complete college and become a physician within the next ten years.

 Betelehem   Wondwosen

My name is Betelehem Wondwosen, and I came to the United States four years ago. I recently graduated from Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School.  I really enjoyed the academic and social diversity there. The hardest thing for me was, however, learning English and adapting to the new culture and the school system.

My favorite subjects in school were math and science.  My favorite teachers were Ms. Augustine, my anatomy teacher, and Ms. Check, my nursing teacher. I feel that both teachers taught me a great deal and prepared me for the future.

In the fall I will be attending Emmanuel College in Boston.  I plan to study pharmacy, as I have been fascinated by medicine for as long as I remember.

Again I want to thanks my family, teachers and friends and all the other people that supported my during my high school years. Thank you .

Workam Becho

My name is Workam Becho.  Four years ago, I came to the United States. I recently graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High.

When I first started school here in the US, I had been here for only four months, and I didn't know much about the country. High school was very difficult for me because of the differences in culture, language and lifestyle between me and the American students. Fortunately for me, I was only 14 when I came here and I never gave up. I just kept on telling myself that I wasn't the only one facing these kinds of problems.  Later on, things became easier for me as I became more familiar with the American students' culture and lifestyles, but English was still hard for me.

My plans for the future include going to college and studying computer science. I intend to go to community college for the first 2 years and then transfer to a four year program. I feel that attending community college will give me more time to practice my English skills, as well as more time for planning my future. I choose to study computer science because I like working independently, and I also enjoy using  the computer for designing and researching things.
